THE BUS ridership has increased 243% since its
first year of service!
Stillwater , Okla. – THE BUS provided more than 700,000 trips to the OSU campus and Stillwater community during the 2005-2006 year, a 27.6% increase in ridership over the 2004-2005 year and a 243% increase since the first year of service in Fall 2003.
“We are delighted with these significantly high ridership numbers,” said Hugh E. Kierig, OSU Director of Parking and Transit Services. “I believe the increases are related to two factors – the obvious increase in fuel costs and the fact that passengers see the benefit and convenience of using
THE BUS .”
Since August 2005, on- and off-campus ridership has averaged 3,486 riders per day. This compares to ridership one year ago that averaged 2,740 passengers per day.
THE BUS is free for OSU students, faculty and staff. One-way trip fares for Stillwater residents range from $0.50 for the general public to $0.25 for senior citizens, people with disabilities, and persons under 18.
Currently, nine transit routes are serving locations on the OSU campus and throughout the Stillwater community. Seven day-time routes run from 6:20 a.m. to 7 p.m. and two night-time routes run from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Service operates Monday through Friday.
